Meet The Midwife
when I look back on the experience Crystal was the best part. Never did I know that I could be so supported and loved through labor. When I heard she had her own practice there was no other option but her. - Pitts Family
I am certified by the National American Registry of Midwives as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and am a Licensed Midwife in the state of Washington (LM). In order to receive the CPM and LM credentials, I completed a total of three full years of formalized study at an accredited school, graduating magna cum laude, passed both national and state written examinations of academic knowledge, submitted proof of clinical experience, submitted validation of a wide variety of clinical skills, and agreed to abide by state law and regulations. Before becoming a midwife, I was a certified birth doula and childbirth educator. I began attending births in 1999 and have attended over 750 births to date. I am currently a professional member of the Washington Alliance for Responsible Midwifery (WARM), where I am proud to serve as Board Chair.
I am honored to be able to bring traditional and holistic midwifery to you with my boutique practice. I am excited to spend quality, un-rushed appointments with you and include benefits that I feel are so beneficial to mom, baby and family. My all inclusive services include things like whole food prenatal vitamins, herbal tea for pregnancy support, proboitic uro-genital supplement support, and other great resources. I include a birth kit packed with everything you need for labor and postpartum, even a tub for those desiring water birth. I am a strong believer in supporting you throughout your whole journey and include 6 postpartum visits, a postnatal massage by a licensed massage therapist (currently unavailable due to COVID) and many (optional) services including cord burning, traditional mother roasting and herbal baths in my services package. Find out more about this unique care by setting up a free consultation.
Having a small, boutique practice allows me to fulfill two other midwifery related passions of mine; working to improve health inequities and sharing midwifery skills. Aside from having my small practice, I am committed to helping students become successful in their studies, skills and practices. I find joy working with and learning from students. I believe whole-heartedly in passing along the art of midwifery and staying current with practice and information. My other passion is the Rainier Valley Community Clinic. The clinic and its mission is something very near and dear to my heart. I served on it's board, South Seattle Women's Health Foundation, which operates RVCC for many years.
I feel so blessed to be living on Whidbey Island and experiencing all it has to offer. I share my life with my husband and three kids, 2 of which are still young enough to be at home. I am Grammy to one and have another grandbaby on the way! My family and I love to hike, travel and celebrate many family traditions together.
